A small, lively dog with long legs, active and alert, with a tendency to be quite vocal. This smart breed with a desire to please can be very attached to its family, but rather aloof towards strangers.

Small breed with turbulent history

Bred from the English Toy Terrier in the 18th century, being popular with the Russian aristocracy for many years, almost wiped out in the 1920s with the rise of communism and only accepted on a definitive basis by the FCI in 2017.
Browse pedigrees and photos, analyse health and pedigrees, and contribute information to the archive.
The Breed Archive is a great place to learn more about different breeds and to actively participate in entering dogs, correct and add information to make it even better.
